LINCOLN COUNTY SCHOOLS NAMES PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR NORTH LINCOLN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Lincoln County Schools is pleased to announce that Kassandra Arndt has been named the Interim Principal of North Lincoln Middle School for the 2025–2026 school year.
With deep roots in Lincoln County Schools and a strong track record of leadership, Arndt brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and community connection to her new role. Her educational career began in 2009 as a teacher assistant at Catawba Springs Elementary under then-Principal Kristi Smith. After gaining valuable teaching experience in Iredell-Statesville Schools, she returned to LCS in 2013 as a 3rd grade teacher at Rock Springs Elementary.
She went on to teach at St. James Elementary from 2016 to 2020, where she was named Lincoln County Schools Teacher of the Year for the 2019–2020 school year. In 2020, she stepped into school leadership as Assistant Principal at Iron Station Elementary, where she served for three years before transitioning to North Lincoln Middle School as Assistant Principal in 2023.
Over her 12 years in Lincoln County Schools, Arndt has earned recognition as both a Teacher of the Year and a nominee for Assistant Principal of the Year. Her investment aligns with her commitment to educational excellence in the community—she is the proud mother of three daughters who have attended LCS schools and are actively involved in athletics and the arts.
Arndt succeeds MaryBeth Avery, who retires June 30, 2025.
Mrs. Anna Lineberger has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal of North Lincoln Middle School, replacing Kassandra Arndt as she serves as interim principal. With nearly two decades of experience in education and a proven track record of leadership, innovation, and relationship building,
Mrs. Lineberger has served in various leadership and instructional roles throughout her career, including most recently as Assistant Principal at John Chavis Middle School in Gaston County. Her experience spans classroom teaching, instructional technology facilitation, and mentoring educators, making her well-equipped to support the academic and personal growth of students and staff at North Lincoln Middle.
A passionate educator, Lineberger is known for implementing strategic initiatives that enhance student engagement and performance. She has served on numerous district and school-level committees focused on curriculum development, student improvement, and positive behavioral support. Her accolades include being named Mt. Holly Middle School’s New Teacher of the Year, serving as a Teacher Mentor for nearly a decade, and leading as PBIS Committee Chair and Commissioner’s School of Excellence Teacher Leader.
Lineberger holds a Master of Arts in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University and a Master of Arts in Instructional Technology from Appalachian State University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, with an expected completion date in December 2025.

🐮🥨 What a fun (and tasty!) day at Career Camp last week through the Lincoln County School of Technology!
A few brave campers tried their hand at milking the mechanical cow, but everyone loved meeting the baby calves at Riverbend Creamery—especially when the calves gave them a few friendly licks! 🐄💕
Back at camp, students teamed up to make homemade soft pretzels from scratch! From measuring and mixing to boiling and baking, they got hands-on kitchen experience—and most of those pretzels didn’t last long! 😋
We’re so proud of how polite and sweet our campers were—and we’re not the only ones! A Riverbend Creamery employee even complimented their kindness and manners. 💬👏

BATTLEGROUND PRINCIPAL NAMED NAESP PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR
Battleground Elementary Principal, Mrs. Kelly Withrow, has been widely recognized this year as both the Lincoln County Schools Principal of the Year (POY) and the Southwest Region Principal of the Year. At the end of May, Superintendent Allen was notified that the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals Association (NCPAPA) has selected Mrs. Withrow as the 2025 North Carolina nominee for the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Elementary Principal of the Year. NCPAPA Executive Director, Dr. Shirley Prince, says, “We are honored to have Kelly represent North Carolina and NCPAPA as our NCPAPA 2025 Elementary Principal of the Year. Her leadership at Battleground Elementary shines through with not only her test scores, becoming the number one school in the state for academic growth, but also in the culture she has created, reducing teacher turnover and improving responses on the Teacher Working Conditions Survey. As the NCPAPA Elementary POY, Kelly will also represent North Carolina in the National Association for Elementary School Principals (NAESP)’s National Distinguished Principals (NDP) program. We are proud of the work Kelly continues to do in Lincoln County and cannot wait to see her shine on a national stage.”
Superintendent Allen says, “Kelly Withrow embodies the kind of leadership that transforms a school community. Her recognition as North Carolina’s Elementary Principal of the Year is not only well deserved—it reflects the heart, vision, and relentless commitment she brings to Battleground Elementary each day. Her impact reaches beyond test scores; it’s seen in the confidence of her students, the trust of her staff, and the strength of her school culture. We are proud to see her represent Lincoln County and the state on a national platform.”
The NDP program was established by the NAESP in 1984 to recognize elementary and middle level principals who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and climate for the students, families, and staff in their learning communities. The program was based on three fundamental ideas:
Children’s attitudes towards learning and their perceptions of themselves as lifelong learners are established in the beginning school years.
The scope and quality of children’s educational experiences are determined primarily by the school principal, who establishes, through the important work of teachers and the support of caring parents, the character of a particular school’s program.
The dedication and enthusiasm of the outstanding principals who guide children’s early education experiences should be acknowledged to both show appreciation for their work as well as to allow them to serve as models for others in the field.
Each year, NDPs represent Pre-K-8th grade public schools from all across the country as well as principals in U.S. private schools and those from the United States Departments of Defence Office of Educational Activity and the United States department of State Office of Overseas Schools. Public school elementary and middle-level principals are nominated by their state and final selections are made by committees appointed by each of NAESP’s state affiliate offices.
