Earlier this week, Jenn Hamrick and Kim Davis shared their presentation about Lincoln Links at the North Carolina School Boards Association 2024 Conference. A partnership with Gaston College, Lincoln Links is a transition program for 18-22 year-olds with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. #lincolnleads

This week, nearly 700 9th graders from Lincoln County Schools toured Gaston College's Dallas Campus. They saw several areas including: Machining Broadcasting Electrical Welding Automotive Criminal Justice Early Childhood Teaching Emergency Medical Service Health and Fitness Nursing Medical Assisting Civil Engineering Global Education Cosmetology Agricultural Technology Special thanks to Gaston College for being fantastic hosts, LEDA for providing lunch, and our school employees who worked so hard to organize buses and chaperone. It was a great two days of tours where our students learned so much about the opportunities they have available to them at Gaston College. #lincolnleads

Join us for an Information Session about a pathway to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) starting in High School. Thursday, November 7, 2024 5:00pm - 6:00pm Atrium Health Lincoln 441 McAlister Rd. Lincolnton, NC Medical Office Plaza I Oak Classrooms This is an exciting new partnership between Gaston College, Lincoln County Schools, and Atrium Health Lincoln that will allow students to complete the Practical Nursing Program on the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College during High School . Students can finish the program as early as the summer after high school graduation. For further information on program enrollment, please reach out to your high school guidance counselor.

Lincoln County Public Education Foundation (LCPEF) Grant Winner Dr. Laurie Dymes, North Lincoln Middle School English/Language Arts Teacher, used grant funds to purchase C-Pens. Dr. Dymes said, "Thanks to the LCPEF grant, our students now have access to C-Pens, cutting-edge assistive technology that empowers readers with challenges like dyslexia. These portable scanning pens help students decode text independently by converting text into speech. In the photos, you'll see our students exploring their new C-Pens, building confidence and skills as they read. We’re thrilled to bring these resources into our classrooms to support diverse learning needs and make reading more accessible for everyone!" The LCPEF funds mini teaching grants that demonstrate innovative approaches to instructional practice as well as solve educational problems or meet significant challenges that have not been met effectively.
