Our Eagles in Mrs. Flood's class were putting their reading skills to work as they practiced identifying the characters and setting in their story today. Students were engaged in great conversations during Turn & Talk, shared predictions about what might happen next, and used inferencing skills to determine the setting. They even provided evidence from the story to explain the clues that helped them identify the characters!

We love seeing our Eagles thinking, talking, and learning together as they grow into confident readers!

We are excited to announce that BUS 23 is our BUS of the MONTH for August! Bus 23 earned this recognition by having the most Bus Leader Tickets turned in during August! Our Eagles were spotted being leaders on the bus by:
*Waiting safely at their bus stops
*Sitting safely in their seats and remaining seated until the bus stopped
*Staying out of the aisle
*Keeping items zipped safely inside their backpacks

We are so proud of our students for showing that LEADERSHIP doesn't stop when we leave the classroom or school building. A special shout-out to Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Taylor, Bus 23 drivers, for helping make safety, responsibility, and leadership a priority every day!

Keep leading, Eagles! Let's see which bus will GLOW next!!

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and at Pumpkin Center Primary, we know that EVERY DAY COUNTS!

Being at school each day gives our Eagles opportunities to learn, grow, lead, and GLOW! Regular attendance helps students build strong routines, strengthen friendships, develop confidence, and make the most of every learning opportunity.

Our attendance habits connect to the 7 Habits too!
Be Proactive - Be ready for school each day.
Begin with the End in Mind - Show up today and reach your goals tomorrow.
Put First Things First - Make school attendance a priority.
Think Win-Win & Synergize - When we're all here, we learn and grow together!

Families, thank you for your helping our Eagles build the habit of showing up, being ready, and giving their best each day. Together, we can make every school day count!

This month, we are celebrating the character trait of RESPONSIBILITY! These outstanding Eagles were selected by their teachers for showing responsibility each day by:
Taking care of their belongings
Following school and classroom rules
Making good choices, even when no one is watching!

Responsibility connects perfectly with Habit 1: Be Proactive. Our Students of the Month are showing that great leaders take responsibility for their choices, actions, and attitudes. Congratulations, Eagles! We are so proud of the way you GLOW as leaders and set a great example for others!!

Our Eagles are off to a GLOWING start! We've had a great first two days of school! We had a wonderful turnout for Kindergarten orientation. Our Eagles have been hard at work learning what it means to be leaders: in the classroom, on the school bus, and throughout our school.

Our teachers have also been busy collaborating during PLCs, planning engaging learning experiences, and preparing for an amazing year of growth and learning. We can't wait to have all of our Eagles back in the building on Monday!

Good Afternoon Families!

This will be our last email for this school year! We are officially down to the last three and a half days of school! School will dismiss on Thursday, May 21st at 12:00. We previously had communicated 11:30, but have had further clarification from the District. Please know that both the bus routes and car rider line typically run ahead of schedule on the last day of school, so please be at your stop or in line earlier than you might normally be.

As my education journey takes me to a new school next year, I want to share with you what a gift Pumpkin Center Primary School has been to me. Fifteen years of my career have been spent teaching and leading in this building and it will always be a special place to me and my family. Thank you for affording me the privilege of serving your families and sharing many laughs, high-fives, hugs, and so many more memories with your students. They are the joy that fills these halls! I hope each of you has an amazing summer and I look forward to hearing from my colleagues here at PCPS how everyone is doing! My email will remain the same, so don't hesitate to reach out with updates about your children! I can't wait to see the great places they go and the amazing things they will do!
