Relay for Life: Penny War

Dear Parents and Students of Rock Springs,

The AIG students at Rock Springs challenge each of you in a penny war to help fight the war against cancer.  You can do this by joining us in the effort to raise money for our school’s Relay for Life team.  The kick-off for the penny war will begin Monday, April 20.  Money will be collected April 20-24. Don’t worry if you can’t find pennies; bills and checks count too!

  • This is a school wide event

  • Classes will be competing against the other classes on their grade level

  • 1 point is awarded for every penny placed in the designated jar (every classroom will have its own jar)

  • Checks and bills count as pennies and will add points ($5.00 = 500 pennies)

  • Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society

  • Students can sabotage other classes by placing silver coins (nickels, dimes, and quarters) in those jars.

  • Any silver change takes points away from a class total.  Nickels are worth 5 points, dimes subtract 10 points, and quarters subtract 25 points.

  • Please keep coins rolled if you get them from the bank (that helps with the counting)

  • Students in the winning classrooms will receive a special treat!

  • Please check with your place of employment to see if they match funds.

Together, we can make a difference!

Mrs. Ryczek and the AIG students at Rock Springs
