 May 18-May 22

 Phase 4 will be from May 18 through May 22.  May 22 will be the last day of remote learning and the last day of school for students.  Teachers will post phase 4 work on google classroom and canvas.  If your child does not have internet access please contact your child's teacher to have them prepare a paper packet that can be picked up in the school office.  

Any school work or school materials can be returned to school any day in the boxes placed at the front of the school through June 2

Remaining yearbooks can be purchased first come, first serve in the school office from 8 am until 4 pm on Monday, May 18th to Friday, May 22nd. The cost is $50 dollars, cash only. Yearbooks will not be sold on distribution days.  

We will hold a drive-through yearbook pick dates starting with 8th Grade: Wednesday, May 27th from 10 am to2pm. The distribution will be in the back of the school. 6th Grade: Thursday, May 28th from 9:00 to11:30am at the front of the school and 7th Grade: Thursday, May 28th from 12:30 to 3 pm at the front of the school.

We ask that everyone stay in their cars during this distribution process.

 

 

April 20-April 27 

 

Hello, Panther Nation this is Mr. Welch Interim Principal at North Lincoln Middle with some weekly updates:

Phase three packets were released on Monday, April 20 students should be logging into google classroom or canvas daily and completing assignments.  If parents requested paper packets and they have not been picked up yet they can be picked up any day between 8-4 pm at the school office.  Please encourage your student to complete all work assigned in all areas including elective classes.  If students have questions please tell them to e-mail their teacher.

In PTO news, it’s time to elect next year‘s PTO board members. This is a great opportunity for you to plug-in at your child’s school.
You can nominate yourself or someone that you feel would make a great candidate by emailing nlmspantherpto@gmail.com.  Please include your name, phone number and board position(s) you are interested in by Friday, May 1st.
All nominees will be posted on the PTO Facebook page and Instagram on Saturday, May 2nd.
Join the Zoom PTO meeting on Tuesday, May 5th at 7pm to cast your vote. Get the login and password info on the PTO Election link on the school homepage. Be sure to visit this site for board position descriptions and all election details.

Calling All Rising 7th and 8th Grade Artists and Photographers!

Do you like art and design, taking pictures and writing?

If your answer is yes to any of these questions above, then we need your help to create a yearbook that captures lasting memories of NLMS! If you are interested in being in the Yearbook Club for next year, please email Mrs. Buckman and she will email you a Google Forms Application.


Applications will be due on Friday, May 8th!

Calling All Rising 7th and 8th Grade Artists!

We need your creativity to help design a cover for our 2020-21 Student Planner that illustrates the theme, Panther Proud! Your original designs can be hand drawn or computer generated, but must be in color. Please include “North Lincoln Middle School Student Planner 2020-21” somewhere on the cover. The winning design will be announced on PAWS News by Mr. Suarez and Mr. Donnellan. 


All designs need to be emailed to Mrs. Buckman by Friday, May 15th.

April 6 - April 10, 2020 

 

NLMS Families, 

We miss you and hope you are missing this wonderful North Lincoln Middle School staff.  I want to make sure you are doing well and have all of the most recent information.

Lincoln County Schools and NLMS have finalized grades for the third quarter grading period. This grading period will reflect student work from January 13 to March 13.

 

Report cards for the third quarter will be available for access to Power School on Thursday, April 9th. Instructions for using Power School Portal are listed on our school web page and a link has been posted on NLMS Facebook page. For those who cannot access PowerSchool, You can pick up a paper copy on Monday, April 20 in the school office between 8 and 4 pm.

 

Spring Break will be held on April 10-17, students will not have work during this time.  We hope you use this time to rest and relax with your family.

Phase 3 instruction will be available to students online starting on April 20th.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you do not have internet access and need a paper packet.

Make sure your student is checking their school email daily and school website for updates from teachers and staff.  Also, check out the NLMS Facebook page for daily announcements.

If you are receiving school meal delivery by bus it will run over spring break. Please check with your driver this week for updates. 

If your family needs support please contact Mr. Donnellan, our school counselor.

March 30- April 5, 2020 

 

 

Hello,

This is North Lincoln Middle School Intern Principal, Mr. Welch, with some information for the week of March 30th.   First of all, we hope everyone is doing well at home and please know your teachers miss you daily.  We will be moving into Phase 2 of our Covid 19 operational grid, which starts on Tuesday, March 31st through April 9th. This fluid grid is pictured above.

We are still asking students to log into their school e-mail to access school content through google classroom and canvas.  If students do not have internet access, please stop by the school Monday to pick up a paper copy.  Also, sports pictures and Band Coffee fundraiser sale items can be picked up Monday in the school office. You may pick these items up between 8 am and 4 pm on Monday. 

Finally, don't forget to check the school website and Facebook page for updates from the school administration. 

 

March 23-27, 2020

 

 

 Panther families! 

 

This is NLMS Administration with Tuesday message for this 2nd week of school closure. Please be assured we miss our students terribly but are grateful for our district and state leadership for making the best decisions they can to keep our communities safe.

 

Below are some various areas of an update for your families.

 

General Communication Updates

 

  • Teachers are still available for questions through email or phone calls where possible. All of our teams are now using Remind texting platforms for easier connectivity to our Panther families. If you are not set up to use your team's Remind, please email a team teacher or call the front office for more information.

 

  • Our front office staff is available from 8 to 4 pm for questions. We ask that you continue to limit visits to the building unless you need to pick up a packet or personal items from lockers and/or classrooms.

 

 

At-Home Learning Instructional Updates

 

  • Last week's At Home Learning Packets reinforce core content area skills through March 30th. Additional copies can be downloaded from our NLMS website if needed.

 

  • Teachers are currently working on Phase 2 packets which may include more digital learning options for students. Students should check their SCHOOL email for invitations to Google Classrooms and communications from their teachers. Phase 2 will include both core classes and elective classes and include assignments/lessons for March 31st - April 9th. There will be paper/pencil packets available for those without online access.

 

  • Students cannot connect to Google Classroom, Zoom, or other remote learning sites through their personal email. The staff has been instructed to only use school email addresses. Please reach out to the teacher if you are having trouble getting connected to an invitation.

 

Student Free Food To Go & Nutrition Information

 

  • Lincoln County Schools has set up 8 schools where children up to the age of 18 can receive a free lunch and breakfast for the next morning. Please see the flyer on our social media sites or at the bottom of this email for more information.

 

  • If you do not have transportation to one of the 8 feeding sites, please contact one of the NLMS counselors or our front office for additional support options. We do not want our students to go without food and are grateful for the community and district office support for making sure that doesn't happen.

 

  • If you reached out last week, deliveries started today! If you can pick up, please do so, but hesitate to contact us if you need help. Again, we do not want our students to miss meals during this unprecedented event.

 

Digital Public Library Access

 

  • For access to ebooks, audiobooks, digital magazines, and other digital resources through the Lincoln County Public Library, login with your student ID number and 4 digit PIN (last 4 digits of your student ID).

March 15, 2020 

 

All Lincoln County Schools closed through March 30, 2020; All School events are canceled effective Monday, March 16, 2020. Per a directive from Governor Roy Cooper, all Lincoln County Schools are closed. We will communicate more information as it becomes available. We know many employees, families, students, and our community has many questions related to this news. Our district leadership and Board of Education will be working diligently on these details. Please continue to monitor our LCS webpage and social media platforms for continued updates.  

 

Hello Panther Families!! 

March 15, 2020

I do hope that you all are well and are enjoying the extra time with family.

Instruction: 

Our teachers are working diligently today putting together at-home learning packets for your students. These packets will focus on maintaining and reviewing skills and help keep your students in the frame of mind of school during this time out. At this time the main focus of the work will be on Math, ELA, SS, and Science.

Packet pick-up will take place on Wednesday, March 18 from 1-4 pm. This will be in a drive-thru format. 6th and 7th grade may pick-up packets in the front of the school and 8th grade will pick-up at the rear of the school. This is similar to how we do afternoon car rider dismissal. When you pull up to the line a teacher will stop at your car to get your child's name. That teacher will then bring the packet of work back to your car. Any packets not picked up during this time will be left in the office for pick-up on Thursday or Friday.

Field Trip Information:
The 8th-grade field trip to Biltmore has been canceled. Biltmore is refunding us for this trip so we will be able to provide a refund to students who have paid. We ask that you please patient with us as we work to receive our refund from Biltmore and process refunds to students. This will not be a quick process. We will notify you as soon as we know more.

The Chorus field trip to Carowinds has also been canceled and we are working to secure a refund for this trip as well. Please be patient with us.

The Chorus trip to Atlanta scheduled for April 24th has been canceled, and we are working with the tour company, hotel, and other vendors regarding options. Given the very fluid situation right now, we will communicate additional information as we receive it. Please be patient with us and our tour company as they work through all of the details regarding cancellation fees, refunds, etc. We are uncertain at this time about refunds regarding this trip.

The Band trip to Disney has been postponed. Please stay tuned to Mr. Stokes' emails for more information regarding this trip.

Picking Up Materials:
You may pick-up medicine at any time in the front office. If you have materials or instruments that need to be picked up, you may pick these up during packet pick up times.

As you know this is an unprecedented situation for our school and district. The circumstances and information continue to be fluid. We are working to keep you informed as we learn new information. Please continue to check district and school webpages and social media for the most recent information. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding during this time.
