Scott H. Carpenter, Principal
Welcome to S. Ray Lowder Elementary School!
As of early October 2020, our families had a choice of coming to school face-to-face for five days a week or having the option to work remotely from home. The majority of our families chose the option to send their students for face-to-face learning for five days a week. We are very excited to say that our face-to-face learners have been very successful. We are also proud to say that our remote learners have been very successful as well. I am exceptionally proud of our families and staff in how they have handled the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have achieved success because we have worked together as a team.
We are extremely proud of our past and excited about our future. Our school is honored to be named after the late Stanley Ray Lowder, the former Superintendent for Lincolnton City Schools. Mr. Lowder was a very well-known and respected educator across the state of North Carolina. In fact, there is a scholarship in his name for high school seniors.
S. Ray Lowder is a Title I school located in the Crestview neighborhood at 350 Kennedy Drive in Lincolnton. Our school is Pre-K through 5th grade. For multiple years, S. Ray Lowder has been recognized by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as a Model PBIS School. In addition, we have received the North Carolina Academic Growth Award.
If you ever have any questions or concerns about our school, please feel to contact me.
I was fortunate to be raised in Lincolnton. I attended the following Lincolnton schools: Aspen Street, Oaklawn, S. Ray Lowder, Lincolnton Junior High and Lincolnton High. I reside in Gaston County with my wife Diana and 3 daughters, Ellen, Caroline, and Julia. We also have a rescue dog named Winston, Mr. Perfect. We are not sure if we rescued him or he rescued us.
