Mr. Oakes is excited to begin his tenure as the principal of Norris Childers Elementary.  I hold a BA - Music Education from Appalachian State University and a Masters of School Administration from UNC-Wilmington.  Prior to this posting, I was the assistant principal at Lincolnton Middle School and taught at St. Stephens High School in Hickory.

I reside in Hickory with my wife, Lauren, and two children, Amelia and Sam.  As a family, we love to travel and be outdoors.  When we have the opportunity, you can find us on the local mountain bike trails.

I can't wait to work with and for the children of this community.  We will truly become inspired, determined and unstoppable!
