BA Secondary English Education

Miss Rylee Burchfield

Welcome to Lincolnton High School!

My name is Rylee Burchfield and I came to LHS in January of 2023. I am so excited about teaching English this year and for the many years to come.

Before coming to LHS, I was a Student Teaching Intern at East Lincoln Highschool, a Part-time Interim at Avery Highschool, as well as an English Tutor Leader with the Mountaineer Alliance, an after-school ACT prep and Study Hall program at Watauga High school in Boone, NC. I graduated from Appalachian State University (Roll Neers!) in the December of 2022 with my Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education. Before Appstate, I was a graduate of North Lincoln High School and therefore have been a member of Lincoln County for most of my younger years. I am ecstatic about continuing my career in education in the place I consider home.

When I am not at school, I spend my time reading, hanging out with my sister and friends, and gardening. Family and friends are extremely important to me and an emphasis that I encourage students to value as well alongside their educational journey. A journey that you oftentimes can't traverse alone. I am a cat mom to a gorgeous, but feisty tabby, Luna (you will most likely see pictures of her in my classroom).

I am also so excited about the upcoming new year at LHS. I have very high expectations for my students but recognize that all my students are capable of success with the right motivation. My mantra: try your best and forget the rest. And, never forget, communication is key. I want to ensure that all my students are safe, comfortable, and successful. In order to ensure this, effective, timely, and honest communication is key. I encourage any parent or student with any questions or concerns to feel free to contact me.

With that said, I am excited to meet you all!
