It is an honor to be entering my twentieth year teaching English to another group of wonderful students.
The philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein stated, “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” I find
deep meaning and great joy in helping students use language arts to open their minds to a larger world
experience.
I am highly dedicated to gaining as much education and training as possible to help all students have access to
a successful future. In addition to being an English teacher, I am also a licensed Intensive Alternative Family
Treatment Therapeutic Foster parent.
My education includes holding a Computer Programming degree as well as a Microcomputer Specialist degree
from Thomasville College, a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Valdosta State University, a
Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Troy University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Ed.
leadership from Valdosta State University.
In addition to my formal education, I have extensive training in the areas of trauma informed schools and crisis
prevention intervention, social emotional learning, restorative justice, capturing kids hearts, facilitating and
monitoring suicide prevention education and interventions, creating LGBTQ inclusive learning environments,
family diversity, child abuse, human trafficking awareness and prevention, Title 9, cyber security, concussion
protocols, utilizing Canvas, multi-tiered system of supports, response to intervention, autism spectrum
disorders, check and connect, participating in professional learning communities and school improvement
teams, effective classroom technology integration, professional development action plans, gambling
prevention, blended learning, keys to literacy, and violence risk assessment and prevention.
I am committed to fostering a very inclusive and supportive school community, where all students are able to
reach their full potential and cultivate a thirst for knowledge. I am certain we all want what is best for your
student, and I know that all of us working together can lead to an amazing outcome.
Outside of school my passions include exercising, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with my
family and friends. I love animals and currently have a pitbull named Gunner, a four pound toy yorkie named
Braxton, a one year chocolate lab named Pongo and two cats Bailey and Bently. I live in Mooresville with my
three teenage daughters.
