I am Mrs. Powell and I am so happy to be at NLMS this year.  I will be teaching Math 1, Math 8 and Science 8.  I started teaching in 2000 (before you were born).   I have taught just about everything from 7th grade math to AP Calculus.  I earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and my teaching license in 1999 from UNC-Charlotte.  I have been nationally board certified in mathematics since 2004.   In 2013, I completed my master's degree in Mathematics Education.   I am excited to be part of the panther family.

I live in Denver, NC with my family.  My husband, Jason, and I have been married since February 2000.  In 2010, we became a family of four when our twins (Derek and Kate) were born.  We also have two dogs, Scooter and Skye.  

I taught for 13 years in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and 6 years at Lincoln Charter School.  I will be starting year 20 at NLMS.  I am so excited for a new adventure.
