Degrees and Certifications:
Hey! My name is Amelia Maldonado. This is my first year at Iron Station and my 5th year teaching second grade. I wasn’t born in the south, but I got here as fast as I could. Before the age of five I lived in Indiana and Ohio. The rest of my growing up years were spent a few miles away in Huntersville. Since high school I have moved several times. The places I have lived include Asheville, Wilmington, Illinois, and different parts of southeastern Idaho. My most recent move was back to North Carolina after living in Utah for seven years. I am the youngest of six kids and the aunt to 24 of the greatest nieces and nephews you could ever meet, two of whom attend Iron Station. I met my husband, Manny, while living in Idaho. He grew up south of Salt Lake City and was the inspiration for my move to Utah. We have been happily married for the last six years. I graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2012 with my bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in English. I made the move to Utah shortly after graduating. I worked for Key Bank for a few years while taking prerequisites to attend graduate school for occupational therapy. While in school and working, I realized I wasn’t happy with the career path that I was on and decided to return to the classroom. Teaching is my passion. I taught second grade for four years at Butler Elementary in Cottonwood Heights, UT. I am excited to be able to continue my teaching career here at Iron Station. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the school, and have felt nothing but welcomed since arriving here!
