Hello St. James Families! My name is Kristen Quinn and I am so happy to be back at St. James Elementary School for my fifth year, serving as the lower EC teacher.  My family and I moved from Long Island, NY four summers ago and we enjoy living in beautiful North Carolina!

My husband, Patrick is retired and my two youngest children, Emma and Andrew, attend St. James Elementary School. My oldest son, Michael, is in middle school. I love living and working in Denver, and am honored to continue to be a part of the wonderful St. James family. 

I have been teaching Exceptional Children for over 16 years. I graduated from Dowling College in New York with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, and then decided to become a teacher. I received a dual Masters Degree in Elementary and Special Education in 2005.  When I began my teaching career, I worked in a small public school on the east end of Long Island. While there, I successfully educated students in grades K-8, fostered wonderful connections with students and families, and pursued multiple opportunities for professional growth. I received Wilson Reading System Certification in 2013 and have enjoyed helping children learn helpful strategies to become better readers. I enjoy working with students to improve their math skills, using hands-on learning experiences and manipulatives. I am also pursuing National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist. 

My main goal as your child’s EC teacher is to maintain an open line of communication. Please contact me with any questions you have, important events that happen in your family, and concerns you have about your child. I am always here to support you and your child. I am looking forward to a successful 2023-2024 school year!
