Welcome to 5th grade at Battleground Elementary.  This is my first year at Battleground, but my sixth year teaching just 5th grade math and I am so excited to be able to do that again!!  I am also a Math Coach for our school as well as a Top 3 Teacher of the Year for the 2022/2023 school year which is such an honor. 

I began my educational career at Pumpkin Center Elementary teaching 5th grade in 2000 after graduating from UNC-Charlotte.  I have been married for 23 years and have two sons.  My husband and I welcomed our first child, Dillon, in 2003.  Shortly thereafter, I became a stay at home mom.  We had another son, Evan, in 2006. Dillon is attending Liberty University pursuing a degree in Business Finance and Evan is a senior at North Lincoln High School. 

I continued to stay active my 15 years as a stay-at-home mom in Lincoln County Schools as a substitute, tutor, volunteer, interim teacher and Mentor Program Coordinator.  

In my spare time I like to exercise and spend time with my family and my three dogs, Tucker, Gunner and Rocco.  My favorite snack is bubble gum (although technically that is not a snack, but we will let that slide).  I don't think anyone can go through a pack of bubble gum as quickly as I can.   We are big Braves and Duke fans!!  :-)  I watch more baseball than anyone in my family....I love it!

My expectations are high for each and every student.  I want each child to always do his/her best and I will strive to do the same as well.  I expect from my students what I expect from my own two sons which is responsibility, respect, hard work and honesty.  

This 2023/2024 year I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach 5th grade again and help each child reach his/her potential.  I look forward to getting to know each of my students and work with parents as a team.   I can promise you that I will be giving 100% to my students and expect the same.    Please feel free to contact me with any concerns.
