Hello!  My name is Deanna Dunn.  I am a first-grade teacher this year at Battleground Elementary School.  I am so excited about returning to the classroom.   I have been teaching for 27 years as a first and second-grade teacher as well as a Title 1 reading specialist.  

I began my career in Texas at Perrin Elementary as a first-grade teacher and have worked with students in Texas, Arkansas, and North Carolina.  Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas provided me with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  Growing up in a small community allowed me to work closely with students and parents that I had grown up with and already knew.  Shortly after graduation, I moved to Texas and served students in the Sherman school district as well as the Angleton school district.  While in Texas, I received my Reading Recovery certificate and began working with students that needed extra time with reading and comprehension.  In 2001, I moved to North Carolina and worked in Winston-Salem.  I attended Appalachian State University to obtain my Masters in Reading Education.  I have been in the Lincoln County district for the past 17 years. I began working at Battleground, moved to Kiser and now I am working with students at Battleground again! 

I can not wait to work with the first-grade students at Battleground this year!!
