Ms. Heather Simmer

Hello East Lincoln High Parents and Students!  Welcome Back to the 2023-2024 School Year.  I am thrilled to be here at ELHS; this is my seventh year here.  I taught in CMS for 11 years and prior to that, I taught in Malibu, California for 8 years.   I previously taught middle school for 16 of the past 17 years.  This year I decided to challenge myself and take a step out of my comfort zone and back into High School.

My background is in Special Education.  I have a Bachelors in Education grades K-12 Special Education both Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe.  I received my Bachelors from Kent State University in Ohio and My Master's Degree K-12 Special Education Mild/Moderate Disabilities from California State Univerisity, Northridge.

I am originally born in Pennsylvania so I am a diehard Steeler fan and moved to Ohio at age three;  NOT a fan of the Browns! I love football Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and college Saturdays...Go OH...IO!  But, YES, I am a Buckeye!

In my spare time, I enjoy working out, hiking, boating on the lake and rescuing animals.  I have four gorgeous felines named  Stella Bella, Chloe Jean, Cameo James. and our recent addition, Spirit D. Lee.   I enjoy fostering any feline in need and our house is constantly full.  I run the Barn Program for HATS, Helping Animals to Survive, which is an extension volunteer group for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.  My favorite kind of feline is the "unadoptable wild child."

I am so excited to be at East this year and I do believe in open communication between teachers and families so please email anytime!  I  English I webpages and Canvas and thank you for visiting my page.
