My name is Emily Evans and I am excited to be teaching First Grade this year.  I have been teaching since 2001. Battleground has been my home for a while. I served as one of the Title 1 Reading Specialists at Battleground for 7 years. I have taught and worked with grades Kindergarten-5th. My desire to help struggling readers and to instill the love of reading in all students is what led me to become a Title 1 Reading Specialist. I am excited to use my reading knowledge in order to help my first-grade students grow and find joy in all types of literature. I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a BS in Elementary Education(K-6).  I received my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. My favorite things to do are spending time with my family, reading, and exercising. I look forward to an exciting new year in 1st Grade.
