Mrs. Gena Tallent
Hi! I'm Mrs. Tallent! I am privileged to call this place (Lincoln County) my hometown, where I first discovered my love for education, as I was inspired by my mother, who is a former educator. I attended Lenior Rhyne University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I have had the diverse opportunity to teach (and learn) in three different states- Louisiana, Texas, and North Carolina. I am a wife to my high school sweetheart (Doug) of thirty one years, a mom to my two daughters and my two son-in-laws, a GeGe to my grandaughter, Sweet Adaline (4), my grandson J.T. (2), and my grandson Colt (5 months). I am also a GeGe to countless dogs, goats, cats, ponies, and chickens. We have quite the crew! I am the biggest Dallas Cowboy's fan you have ever met, an avid cheerleader for the N.C. State Wolfpack, an aspiring gardener, one who believes that life is better at the beach, a lover of coffee and sundrop, a lover of all family gatherings and quality time, and most importantly, I am passionate about each and every one of the students who walk into my classroom. I believe that education is the key to success, and it is my desire to create an environment that cultivates learning, confidence, good interpersonal skills, and future successful leaders. It is a joy to work with childrens' families, to discover how each student learns best, and to engage with each student individually to ensure that they are successful. I take pride in telling my kids every day that they are, "AWESOME" and "THE BEST" and I truly love seeing each of them grow as students and people throughout their school year. If I have learned anything in my years of being an educator, it is the fact that as much as I teach my kids, they always teach and grow me as a person every single year. Aristotle once said, "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all," and this is something I work towards every year with every new child I am blessed to know.
