  • U.S. Senate Youth Program

    Qualified junior or senior high school students applying for this opportunity must show demonstrated leadership through public service in elected or appointed positions where they are actively representing a constituency in organizations that relate to government, public affairs, history and / or community service. Qualifying students MUST show an active history of serving and representing their peers and working in service of others.  Each student must be actively serving in a qualified leadership position, enrolled in high school, and living the entire school year in the state they will represent.  The two student delegate winners selected by a committee at the state level will represent their state in an intensive educational program during a week-long experience in Washington D.C.  Each of the two winning delegates will also be awarded a $10,000 undergraduate college Scholarship with encouragement to pursue coursework in history and political science.  https://senateyouthnc.webs.com/ 

     

    Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership

    Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. This is a summer leadership opportunity available to current 10th graders. Nomination packets will be available in guidance for interested students. LHS is able to nominate and send 1 student.     North Carolina Governor's School

    A six week summer program focusing on English, Math, Science, World Language, and Performing Arts (you apply for the area you want to study). Applications are online and in guidance and additional information is available on the Lincoln County School's High School Education website. This opportunity is available for current juniors.      C-CATS - Clemson's Challenge for Academically Talented Students

    C-CATS is a program designed specifically to introduce high-achieving 9th & 10th grade students to Clemson University through exciting weekend adventures that engage them in the academic, social, and recreational opportunities offered at Clemson.  You must be nominated by your counselor to attend.  See your counselor in the guidance office for more information.

     

    Summer at Duke

     Summer College Application – A four-week, credit-bearing program for US students currently in 10th or 11th grade and international students currently in 10th – 12th grade in which they take undergraduate-level courses.
     
    Summer Academy Application – A three-week program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade in which they take a certificate course.
     
    Intensive STEM Academy Application – A one-week, STEM-based program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade that consists of a variety of laboratory tours, faculty lectures, and workshops.
