  • Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership

    Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. This is a summer leadership opportunity available to current 10th graders. Nomination packets will be available in guidance for interested students. LHS is able to nominate and send 1 student.     North Carolina Governor's School

    A six week summer program focusing on English, Math, Science, World Language, and Performing Arts (you apply for the area you want to study). Applications are online and in guidance and additional information is available on the Lincoln County School's High School Education website. This opportunity is available for current juniors.      C-CATS - Clemson's Challenge for Academically Talented Students

    C-CATS is a program designed specifically to introduce high-achieving 9th & 10th grade students to Clemson University through exciting weekend adventures that engage them in the academic, social, and recreational opportunities offered at Clemson.  You must be nominated by your counselor to attend.  See your counselor in the guidance office for more information.


    Summer at Duke- 2017

     Summer College Application – A four-week, credit-bearing program for US students currently in 10th or 11th grade and international students currently in 10th – 12th grade in which they take undergraduate-level courses.
    Summer Academy Application – A three-week program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade in which they take a certificate course.
    Intensive STEM Academy Application – A one-week, STEM-based program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade that consists of a variety of laboratory tours, faculty lectures, and workshops.



    Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University

    RAP applications will be accepted through February 24 for this rewarding, hands-on residential program in scientific research for high school juniors and seniors.  From June 18-July 14, RAP students will live on campus and work under the direction of top research scientists at NC A&T to produce an independent research project.  Students accepted into the program will be compensated financially.  For more information, contact Kishaa James at 336-285-4798 or kdosunmu@ncat.edu.

    Furman Summer Scholars

    If you want to do soemthing really incredible with your summer, be a part of Summer Scholars.  It's an opportunity for rising high school seniors and juniors to participate in classes led by some of Furman's favorite professors, live on campus, and get a taste of college life.  Challenge your mind, make new friends, and have fun while taking part in lectures, discussions, debates, laboratory research, field trips, group and individual projects, and so much more!  Two sessions: July 9-15 & July 16-22.  One week session: $1,200, Two week sessions: $2,200.  For course information and to register, visit furman.edu/summerscholars.

    The Shelton Challenge

    The First-Year Shelton Challenge is a six-day summer experience for rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school.  Shelton's five cornerstones of values-based leadership- honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity and social responsibility- are the foundations of the camp.  The core curriculum focuses on Personal Leadership Assessment in Interpersonal Dynamecs, Role of Values and Ethics in Leadership, Leadership Traits and Approaches, Teambuilding and Empowering Others, Social Responsibility, Public Speaking, and Goal Setting (Cost of program: $700)  For more information visit www.ncsu.edu/sheltonleadership.




    NC State University Satellite Camp

    What’s SATELLITE? Glad you asked!

     It is a 5 day Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) camp!

     It is hosted by NC State faculty and students and you will be staying on NC

    State’s campus!

     You will participate in cool labs (like making paper!) and lectures from NC

    State professors!

     Learn about the college application process and college life!

     Meet other students with similar interests from all across the state!


     NIAHD Pre-College Summer Program in Early American History

    Highly successful Pre-College Program accepts students who will be rising juniors, rising seniors, and graduating seniors by this summer.  Students earn four hours of college credit for an exciting, in-depth study in early American history.  Two three-week sessions are offered: June 25-July15 and July 16-August 5.  For more information, visit www.wm.edu/niahd.
