Rising 9th Grade Transition Outline

Each year, ELMS collaborates with ELHS Counselors to provide opportunities to prepare your child for the transition to ELHS.
Our transition program includes classroom visits, field trip tours, ELHS Open House, and ELHS Registration.
Classroom Activity: Getting to Know Me:
Students complete a "Getting to Know Me" activity form for review and placement in their future ELHS student folder.
Classroom Activity: ELHS Questions and Answers PowerPoint:
Students participate in an open forum of questions and answers with a PowerPoint presentation addressing frequently asked ELHS questions.
Classroom Activity: Career and College Account -
Our Career and Development Counselor works with students to create an account in Major Clarity for career and college readiness activities
Major Clarity lessons include a personal career inventory along with career and exploration activites for in-depth information available for use at home

Students learn about the ELHS Online Registration Process
Students are informed about the online Lincoln County High School Registration Guide
Students receive a copy of the ELHS Online Registration Cheat Sheet
Students receive Online Registration start and stop dates to submit their requested ELHS classes
ELHS Curriculum Night:
Students and Parents are invited to the Annual ELHS Curriculum Night for Students and Parents. Date and time are TBD .
ELHS Registration (1 on 1 registration review at ELMS):
Students meet with ELHS counselors at ELMS 1 on 1 to review their submitted 9th grade courses for accuracy, interest and personal challenge
Classroom Lessons: What is a GPA, Honors, AP, College Credit? What is a High School Transcript? What are the 9th grade electives?-
Students learn about the variety of ELHS electives available to request for 9th grade
Students learn about the requirements for Rigorious Regular, Honors, AP and College Credit course options at ELHS
Students learn the ELHS Grading System - (GPA) Grade Point Average calculations for unweighted & weighted, for Regular, Honors, AP and College courses
Students complete a Grade Point Average practice worksheet
Students learn about the ELHS Transcript, and have hands-on experience reading/reviewing ELHS transcript samples.
