Additional Information about becoming a Bus Driver:

Testing and Behind the Wheel Training - On the 3rd day, there will be a 4 part test - you must pass all four parts of the test to be eligible to obtain your CDL Learners Permit. You are required to hold the CDL- Learners Permit at least 14-days before your behind-the-wheel training.

As part of the training process, you must go to the DMV to obtain a CDL Permit. Therefore, you will need to make an appointment online with the DMV. https://skiptheline.ncdot.gov/ . Check all surrounding DMV locations; most appointment times are several weeks out. To expedite your training, you may schedule your DMV appointment the day after the last day of class.

You must hold the commercial learners permit for at least 14 days before we can schedule your behind-the-wheel training. Behind-the-wheel training is 3-days, and we schedule the behind-the-wheel training based on employment with Lincoln County Schools.

You may use the following links if you would like to review the CDL manual or the School Bus Handbook. You do not need to print; you will receive your own in class.
