American Literature

Welcome to American Literature!

  • The American Literature course is a survey of United States' literature and its culture, and it includes the recognition and understanding of various literary genres and terms.  Written, oral, critical, and creative responses to literary and non-fiction selections are required.  The study of grammar is taught through the writing process.  Should a student be taking this course at an honors level, s/he will partake in additional reading, research, and vocabulary studies.  Although American Literature students do not need to fret over the NC End-of-Course test, they do have the ACT test (which is administered in March) for which to prepare.
