Mrs. Heather Spicola

I am excited to be returning this year as the Blue Angels' Science Teacher.  I also coach the Girls Excelling in Math and Science club (GEMS), open to all sixth through eighth grade girls.

I grew up in Michigan and attended Michigan State University.  I taught for a few years and then transitioned to a career in corporate learning and development.  During this time I completed my Master's degree in Instructional Technology at UNC Charlotte.  Subsequently, I enjoyed some time as a stay-at-home (never home) mom, room mom, and substitute teacher.

I live in Iron Station with my husband, daughter, and Maggie, our Golden Retriever.  I spend my whole day with your teenagers, and go home to my own!  My son Jordan is a mechanical engineering senior at NCSU and my daughter Aubrey is a senior at NLHS.

My pleasures are shopping, reading, cooking, and yoga, but am usually driving someone, somewhere, instead!

I enjoy teaching, and work hard to incorporate plenty of hands-on activities and technology.  Please see my Curriculum pages for more information and resources on what is involved in eighth grade science.  Follow the Daily Announcements and Assignments page to keep-up with what we are studying and how!  Looking forward to a great year.  Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

P.S.  If you contact me, I absolutely respond as soon as I can.  If you do contact me and don't hear from me within twenty-four hours, I did not get your message!  Please try another method!
